POINT SCORING METHOD

We will be using the STABLEFORD method of scoring. Here are the values per hole after your handicap is posted per hole.  A handicap of 9 would receive 1 stroke off per hole. Over 9 run thru again starting with HCP 1 hole. So, for a par 3 that you received a stroke because of your handicap, and you shot a 5... (5 gross -1 stroke given = 4) ...   you would still receive 1 point ( a bogey)  on that hole.  MAX score for all holes is 45.. if you NET Double Eagle every hole.... Below are the points ...

Benefits of Stableford Scoring

Firstly, any particularly bad holes, where you play more than 2 or more over your awarded shots after handicap, you score 0. Bad holes do count against you because you score no points, but if you played +10 over... you are not penalised like in Stroke Play.

Secondly, by awarding players shots on certain holes, everyone, whatever their standard can play together. It’s the total points of the round which determines the winner and not the number of strokes.

Thirdly – It’s a great way to improve your game. For example, on a difficult Par 5 hole, an 18 handicap player will know that he can play +1 (6 shots) to score 2 points and therefore, they can pretend it’s a Par 6, and play 4 to reach the green. For the same player, a long Par 3 could be played as a Par 4 and still get 2 points. It helps treat the more difficult holes with more respect and can help the way we approach each hole and our game.

 HANDICAPS

HANDICAPS ARE CALCULATED USING 90% OF THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE  PLAYER’S SCORE AND PAR.  USGA EQUITABLE STROKE CONTROL IS EMPLOYED TO  INSURE HANDICAPS ARE FAIR.  A MINIMUM OF 1 ROUND IS REQUIRED TO  RECALCULATE THE PLAYER’S HANDICAP.  NO HANDICAP SHALL EXCEED 18. NO ROUNDS WILL BE DISCARDED. 16 ROUNDS ARE USED.
